Ninety-two percent of consumers now use the Internet in their home search, according to data from the National Association of REALTORS®. How can you increase your findability online to make sure you’re a top result when they search?

  • Share quality content: Share helpful content on your website. Write posts on your blog that are useful to your clients. What kind of content does your audience need? “Do you have any tips on fall decorating, re-tiling a bathroom floor, or how to start the home-search process?” writes Mark Mathis, general manager of agent and broker sales at Homes.com. “Share the kind of content that sparks the interest of your audience, and you’ll be able to position yourself as a real estate expert. Find a niche that works for you and then focus your content around it.” Read more: Creating Conversation-Starting Content
  • Be active on social media: Use social media to generate local exposure, boost your blog traffic, answer any real estate questions, and find ways to connect with more people. “While showing off your listings can be beneficial, it shouldn’t make up the entirety of your social strategy,” Mathis notes. “If you’re looking to connect with a more local audience or entice prospective buyers, share fun facts about your neighborhood, including local events, hot spots, and more. Also, since video is even more engaging, consider shooting a fun walk-through of one of your listings. Keep in mind that you should also share any blog posts on your social channels, always linking them back to your website.” Read more: Building strong Relationships Through Social Media
  • Choose to advertise in smart places: Advertise yourself in places where prospective buyers and sellers are searching. Have a targeted, digital ad campaign. You can use popular real estate sites or social media, like Facebook Ads – which allows you to target specific location and even key behaviors, such as people who are likely to move – or Homes.com’s new local ads, which allow you to target a city.
