$400K buys you in real estate at the Jersey Shore

Whether it’s a second home or a permanent move, having a place at the Jersey Shore certainly has its pluses — but beach access at your doorstep (or just a few minutes away) comes at a price.

Within the Shore region, what $400K can land you varies wildly: It could mean a 4,624-square-foot Atlantic City home on an inlet or a minuscule 500-square-foot Lavallette home a block from the beach.

(Never mind that that budget won’t get you nearly as much home on the coast as it does in the rest of the state.)

Got $400K to spare? Here, a look at your potential future Shore homes.

Located on the inlet of the Venice Lagoon, this 4,624-square-foot custom built Atlantic City home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Highlights of the home include an open floor plan, a large stationary dock with a power post and a floating dock, and fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom.

The home  last sold in 2008 for $315,000. It has been on the market since May 2017.

Property taxes for the home were $13,510 in 2017.

The median home value in Atlantic City is $120,100, according to Zillow.

Another home on the waterfront, the listing for this 3,348-square-foot Brick home describes it as a “waterfront oasis” that features a “tranquil setting” and “breathtaking” views of the Metedeconk River.

The Colonial-style home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a two-car garage. The kitchen has recently been updated with stainless steel appliances and a breakfast bar.
